PALAZZO SCOTTI,
Via S. Andrea, 3 - Treviso |
Palazzo Scotti was built in Treviso to become the residence of the
noble homonymous family. In 18th century one of Scotti’s heirs, Mr. Ottavio, capable architect and
representative of Veneto classicism and also planner of many works in Treviso (as the Chiesa di Santo Stefano - Church of St. Stephen
and the Church of St. Croce dei Battuti and other religious buildings as the cathedral in Ceneda, near Vittorio Veneto), restored the old family residences into
a Palace which have the main façade, overlooking Via Sant’Andrea, incomplete. |

Palazzo Scotti was used as accommodation by 14th
army corps in the Second World War, during the history of Treviso, then it was the seat of Municipal Archives,
of Istituto Tecnico Provinciale ’Riccati’ then of the Tourist Office and now there are some Municipal Offices. |
The earl Ottavio Scotti mounted an armoury, a picture
gallery and a collection of archaeological finds indoors the Palace; these finds got lost when the noble family
ended. The Palazzo Scotti was saved by the airstrike of 7th April 1944 accidentally even if it lost a
wing and the courtyard where there is Via Toniolo today. |
