THE CAPPELLA DEI RETTORI (Pawnshop), Piazza Monte di Pietà, 3 - Treviso |
|
The look of this Institution is that in which the Chiesa di San Vito, the
Chiesa di Santa Lucia (Church of St. Lucy) and the Monte di Pietà (Pawnshop) appear as a whole big palace distinguished by an arcade on the ground
floor. The Cappella dei Rettori is one of the most interesting space indoors this building; there are some
frescoes which have a holy motifs, they go back to date of the second extension work. Ludovico Fiumicelli’s
works, artist of Vicenza derivation, shines among all; he painted "la moltiplicazione dei pani e dei pesci"
(the miracle of the loaves and fishes), we may see two angels with olive branches in the corners. |

The Cappella dei Rettori by Fiumicelli, end of 16th century Gruppo Unicredito Italiano. |
|
This work arrived at our days unfortunately after a
sequence of recastings and restorations which always weren’t fit, as that made by Francesco Gennaro in 19th
century.
Then there are other interesting works: they are six sixteenth-century paintings by Pozzoserrato, painter
from Treviso of Flemish origin. |
